Senior Kindergarten
The senior kindergarten program extends the junior kindergarten program in providing rich, meaningful experiences for children. Curricular areas of reading, writing, math, social studies, science and Spanish are designed around relevant themes and presented through games and cooperative play.
The scope and sequence of course offerings begins with the readiness level of each student and encourages growth, discovery and skill development. The main emphasis of the curriculum is integrating academic areas with the visual arts, physical education and the performing arts through age-appropriate activities and lessons.
Each student’s cognitive and physical progress is closely monitored, and teachers note social/emotional development formally and informally throughout the year. Students leave this grade level at different points in terms of their skills and knowledge. We aim to provide each student with a strong foundation for his or her emerging skills.
